Story:
Elephant Rock - A light painting piece created as part of the "Glow" collection. It was by chance, I discovered this rock that looked like an elephant on a trip to North coast of Wales when I was exploring and photographing an abandoned old mill with my partner.
It was located by the coast, there were no car park nearby. Therefore, my partner and I hiked down a rather tricky, slippery footpath which were about an hour away from where I parked my car. It was fortunate that I had already familiarised the route and path during our day time hike. That made it easier for me to navigate when I went back to the abandoned old mill the next day after night fall. I still had to be careful despite being more familiarised with the route as the area has received plenty of rainfall, meaning the downhill path were muddy and extremely slippery. It took me a little longer to get down to the abandoned old mill, but eventually I made it down safely.
When I arrived to the bottom of the hill, at edge of the coast, everything was pitch dark and there wasn't a single soul around me and I was quite far away from civilisations. Being outside alone in the dark, seeing only what I can see in front of me and hearing nothing but the sound of waves crashing into rocks in the sea, it was tranquil and restful, this is the feeling that I will always enjoy and cherish.
Two hours or so were spent at the abandoned old mill by the coast, in the middle of nowhere, creating the art that I love creating. When I look back now and think about the struggles at the beginning of getting there then the peaceful moments that I was able to enjoy, the amount of time spent and the processes that went into just creating a piece of art from this place, all of that was worth it.
