Wandering Oahu's North Shore, I found Lei Ola and her 2026 pup on the day he was born: Pō Hoku, a nickname meaning "Starry Night." Over the next six weeks, I spent time with the pair documenting his growth from a newborn to this photo near the end of his nursing window. After six weeks, Lei Ola left Pō Hoku to begin wandering alone.
