Eloise: The Keeper of Forgotten Streets
This piece imagines a moment through the lens of memory, symbolism, and Colombian cultural identity. In this surreal collage, a young boy sits between reality and dreamscape.
The waters of the Caño Cristales River is a metaphor for the many vibrant, complex and constantly transforming layers of Colombia itself.
Behind the boy a larger-than-life Andean Condor stands as a guardian, embodying freedom and the enduring spirit of the nation.
Around them, melting Cattleya Trianae Orchids and luminous emeralds dissolve and reform, just like the relationship between cultural treasures, memories, and time.
The boy holds a spinning trompo, another treasure and symbol of tradition.
Created through digital collage, this piece represents creative disruption, transforming documentary reality into a symbolic landscape where photography, fantasy, and cultural narrative coexist. The piece asks what remains when places, memories, and traditions are reimagined, and who becomes their keeper in the process?
