The Artist's Cut - II: The Lonely Mountain

"The Lonely Mountain" was taken in November 2021 in Zermatt, Switzerland with a focus on the Matterhorn. After almost two years of break from international travels as a result of the pandemic, in November of 2021, I took my first trip to France and Switzerland, which included 2 days in Zermatt. Initially, I was only booked for one day but after arriving in bad weather and no visibility of the mountain peak for the entire first day, I decided to extend my trip for another. This photograph was taken on the second day, as the weather cleared up and after my morning hike up Gornergrat for a snowy viewpoint of the Matterhorn at sunrise. As I made my descent back into town, the autumn colours of the leaves glowed beautifully on that sunny day and the peak looked as majestic as ever against the foreground of the golden brown treeline of the woods nearer to town.
