In Euskera (Basque language) the month of June (ekaina) means "the sun overhead", in reference to the solstice.
With the arrival of summer all harvests begin to bloom, this is also the time of lavender, which begins to take that special purple color in their flowers. In the north of Spain there are few lavender fields, but in summer they are full of color and to be able to go there and be surrounded by the smell of lavender is wonderful.
