Sandyshots: Cheleh Shad (چله شاد) #2/40

The term Cheleh refers to the 40-day period marking the start of winter, and Shad means joy or happiness, emphasizing the festive and communal spirit of the occasion. On this special night, families and friends gather to stay awake late, sharing stories, reading classical Persian poetry (such as Hafez), and feasting on symbolic foods like pomegranates, watermelons, and nuts, all of which represent light, vitality, and the renewal of life.
