Zaxxon Arcade

Created in June 2015, Zaxxon Arcade is a tribute to classic gaming, and not limited to just arcades. Lovers of retro games will find lots of favourites to spot here. A lost place of joy, fun and escapism in a harsh city. And for many kids, simply a place to be. A place to exist. A place just for them.

Much of the work in this piece was in creating the tiny pixel arcade games, each one based on a real classic, with everything around them making up the setting and contributing to the atmosphere.

Unlike the other GIFs from this same period, Zaxxon Arcade was created while the GUNSHIP Revel In Your Time music video was already in production. Although it was made independently, it too would soon become part of that synthwave video. Revel In Your Time went on to win Best Video at the 2016 Unsigned Music Awards, cementing Zaxxon Arcade as a little piece of music history.

This is the original output exactly as it was.
