Description
A sweet part of main course Zarda is a very famous rice dish in Subcontinent. Thought the recipe seems to be very easy its a very tricky dish to make and is mostly a speciality of elderly women in desi households. its slight variation "Mutanjan" dates back to Mughal era as King ShahJahan's favourite dish. the yellow food colour used gives the dish its name "Zarda". This picture was taken on Eid-al-adha 2023 when I made this dish for the very first time as a part (and tradition) of Eid meal.
