Wubin by Josh Dykgraaf
This piece is based on the Australian Pygmy Possum, a critically endangered species with only a few small ranges of habitat remaining. It’s thought that there are less than 2,000 individuals remaining.
When Melbourne’s 5th lockdown was called, I was shooting material in the area between Walhalla and Mt Baw Baw, this piece is created from various alpine mosses and fungus I found in that area. Compositing the image took about 35 hours of work and a couple of thousand layers in Photoshop.
