When I begin to paint, each piece starts with a moment of instinct. It may be a single line or stroke. This is my favorite moment in the process. There’s no motive or thought – it feels pure. A single line free from any judgment or reference and a split moment where my mind is clear, where I've fully given myself over to the work. It’s an impulse to ruin the canvas of its blankness. But the moment is short-lived. My ego begins to take over and strokes of paint are applied shortly after. The lucid figure is no more. Forever lost, covered in paint, hidden within the canvas, and gone without a trace. That slice of my process, now captured, lives in the digital space.
