Winter Sleep

Snowflakes cling to the delicate dried petals of a sunflower in winter. Many protected seeds are preserved in the head of the flower, awaiting the favourable conditions of the next season to start anew and regrow, reaching again for the light of the sun. (Helianthus annuus)

The Sunflower is the National Flower of Ukraine, and this piece is my reflection of my complex existential feelings of the current devastating situation faced by the Ukrainian people.
