This piece is part of a three part series to accompany "Bacchanal", an #aubjkt4aubjkt2 piece - itself accompanying "Aubergine in Repose", a #aubjkt4aubjkt tribute.
Dionysus (Bacchus) was known as a God of fluidity, winemaking, theatre, fertility, madness and changeable nature.
A core feature of ancient Greek culture was the concept of Xenia, a ritualized friendship and hospitality where shelter, food and wine were served to any travelling guest without question and regardless of cultural status in return for news from other regions. Both the guest and the host were bound to strict rules of etiquette, lest they both suffer Zeus' wrath for failing to uphold the traditions of Xenia. In myth the lucky hosts of Dionysus had their Xenia reciprocated by his offering of wine and the secrets of viniculture, which was valuable knowledge.
