We Are Here Now (e tem Guaraná) 960 x 720 px 2022
//
Somewhere I have a short essay about how an Amazonian climbing plant with toxic hyper-caffeinated fruits became the national soft drink of Brazil. The essay would touch on post-colonial history, environmental impacts, Brazilian regional cultures, and the art of production itself, as Guaraná Jesus was invented in Northern Brazil using a different process than the Guaranás of the South. But alas, it's #HenReunion and my homies need dranks :)
Glitch photogrammetry created with databent obj and glb models taken in Franca, São Paulo, Brazil, in 2022.
These are the Guaranás I found in Franca:
Guaraná Antarctica (this one's ubiquitous) Guaraná Mineiro (from Minas!) Guaraná Cruzeiro (from Leme, SP) Guaraná Jesus (from São Luís, Maranhão)
I wish they had Guaraná Conquista in Franca because that's one of my faves, along with Guaraná Antarctica.
The Guaraná plant wallpapers were generated in MidJourney and processed in Photoshop and Deluxe Paint IV (on an emulated Amiga Computer). Additional graphics were also made in DPaint IV, where I could not figure out how to put accents on Portuguese words.
