WAITING FOR NOTHING

There is a strange comfort in waiting, even when we know there may be nothing left to wait for. Waiting for Nothing comes from that contradiction the part of me that understands something is gone, while another part keeps looking toward the empty space anyway. Perhaps sometimes we don't wait because we expect something to return, but because leaving means accepting that it won't.
