Patience, persistence, and determination can take you a long way... but sometimes things don't play out the way that you want them to. It's in these situations, where you've given everything you can and things don't go right, that I try to remind myself that there is an UPSIDE to nearly everything.
When I took this photo, I had been running around the area trying to find the view that I was looking for. But every time I felt like I got close, something was wrong. The angle wasn't right, there were people in the way, the light didn't hit, the clouds looked bad... etc. I knew there was potential but I just couldn't realize it and it was extremely disappointing at the time.
But I didn't want to let that stop me, so it became an exercise in learning instead. How can I take what I did manage to capture and bring out the best in it? Through the editing process on this photo, I learned a ton and ended up creating one of my favorite images to date and I found the UPSIDE in a tough situation.
