we tore through the land with steel jaws cut down trees, scared off the birds, rerouted rivers. built a road where there used to be life. and now, when night falls, we get scared if there aren’t any lights, if the GPS doesn’t tell us where to go, if the map goes quiet. funny how we silenced nature, and now we can’t handle the silence.
