Twisted Perceptions – The Duality of Silence
This artwork explores the inner fracture between one’s true self and the face presented to the world—capturing the essence of the Twisted Perceptions collection. The dual-faced composition tells a surreal story: one face is crowned with leaves, eyes heavy with sorrow, and a mouth silenced by fingers—representing suppressed thoughts and concealed emotions. The other face, calm and emotionless, portrays the mask worn to navigate society.
The clouds drifting from the head, infested with tiny insects and spiders, symbolize intrusive thoughts, buried fears, and emotional decay. The leafy crown suggests a longing for purity or nature, now overrun by inner chaos. The spider creeping toward the composed face signals that anxiety always finds its way, no matter how calm the surface appears.
Below, the young girl standing by the arched doorway symbolizes innocence on the verge of awakening. The arched entrance serves as a portal to the subconscious, representing the threshold between repressed memories and the conscious world. Her bag suggests a journey, perhaps inward, while the red wreath on her head hints at vulnerability masked as grace.
The Duality of Silence within Twisted Perceptions reflects how silence can be both peace and prison. It’s about the unspoken battles waged behind serene facades and the warped truths shaped by memory, fear, and societal roles. In this visual narrative, perception is not reality—it’s twisted.
