🎨 Twisted Perceptions – Geometry of Surrender
🖌️ CONCEPT / STORY
A solitary human figure folds inward inside a world governed by black and white geometry. The body sits compressed, head lowered, arms locked around the knees—as though attempting to protect itself from a reality that has begun to lose its stability.
Yet the figure is not separate from its surroundings.
The checkerboard pattern travels continuously across the floor, walls, limbs, and skin, while sections of the body stretch, liquefy, and curve into the surrounding space. What should define the boundary between self and environment begins to disappear.
Rigid squares represent order: systems, expectations, repetition, certainty, and the human desire to organize reality into understandable structures. But throughout the image, this perfect geometry begins to bend. Straight lines become waves. Squares melt into fluid currents. The body itself becomes caught between these two visual states—part structure, part distortion.
The figure's withdrawn posture introduces a psychological contradiction. While the environment appears to dissolve outward, the body retreats inward. It is as though reality is becoming increasingly unstable at precisely the moment the individual is trying hardest to contain themselves.
There is no clear point where the distortion begins. Perhaps the environment is transforming the figure. Perhaps the figure's internal state is deforming the world around them.
The work explores perception as an unstable relationship between consciousness and reality: when the mind bends, does the world remain straight?
