Twisted Perceptions – The Whispers of Red Flowers
The girl stood still in the heart of the desolate village, her long braids hanging heavy like the silence around her. The sky above churned with thick smoke, rising from chimneys that stretched like blackened fingers into the gray abyss. The houses, lifeless and cold, loomed behind her, their windows hollow and watching.
Yet, at her feet, the red flowers burned like embers in the darkness—wild, untamed, and defiant. No one else seemed to notice them. No one else could hear their whispers. They fed on something unseen, something buried beneath the village’s empty streets. Echoes of those who had vanished, their voices woven into the petals, waiting for someone to listen.
She wasn’t from this place, and yet, she belonged to it. The villagers, trapped in their smoke-filled routine, saw only what they wanted to see—monotony, inevitability. But she saw the world twisting at its edges, unraveling into something neither dead nor alive.
As she stepped forward, the flowers stirred. The air thickened, the village wavered as if reality itself were peeling away. She knew the truth now.
This was no ordinary town. It had long since decayed into something else. Something breathing. Something waiting.
She took another step, and the whispers grew louder.
