This image started life in about 1994 when I created a series of three related bronze sculptures. The edition sold out, and I ended up without a copy of my own. Then, a few months ago, One came up for auction and I purchased it for about the same price for which it was originally sold. I photographed the sculpture from various perspectives and used one of the photos as the basis for this image. Using the photo as my ghost-guide, I "painted over" the photo using various digital tools and then ran it through several custom filters. Finally, I went back into the piece and applied basic artistic principles to refine edges, enhance contrast and adjust color temperatures. The finished image, saved at 6,000 X 6,000 pixels, retains some of the look of the original bronze, but captures much more intensity of feeling.
