I earned my BS in Computer Science in 1997 from the University of Iowa. One of the requirements of the degree was that I had to take two semesters of an in-depth science class that WASN'T in my major. I chose astronomy because I thought the idea of learning about the heavens sounded romantic.
My dreams of peering though telescopes at celestial vistas were soon dashed by the reality of mathematics and calculus. I did learn a great deal about how the universe actually worked however and the lectures inspired many ideas that later became images in my gallery.
I learned in astronomy class that stars of different sizes/densities burn at different temps with different colors (spectra). In binary systems red giants often are paired with blue dwarfs and I thought this would make an interesting scene.
The "trinity" here is formed by the two stars and the lady on cliff. I had to render this Bryce scene twice and combine in Photoshop to get the effect (later used in "Conjunction").
