This unique artwork is part of the "Tribe - Apex series" with a total of 3 pieces.
Each piece of the series is unique.
Mass behavior, violence, and our perception of ourselves are put under a kind of microscope in Tribe, the project by the Dutch art collective SMACK.
The Tribe series, which includes digital works such as Tribe City, Tribe War, and Tribe Tower, forms the backbone of a broad project that brings together around 300 characters and encompasses both digital media and physical formats, such as sculpture. Group dynamics, online phenomena, and ego are expressed in Tribe through characters ranging from walking periscopes and swastika-wearing bugs to multi-headed aristocrats and muscle-bound machos.
"Tribe - Apex" depicts a massive heap of 900 characters, all scrambling to reach the top of the pile in a desperate attempt to obtain something that isn't there. The figures fall down once they reach the top and start the climb all over again, creating an endless cycle of desperation, a kind of mountain of humanity driven by excessive greed.
This 10-minute version of Tribe - Apex is a unique excerpt from the original generative piece, designed to work as an infinite loop.
The work is inspired by the 16th-century painting "The Wine of St. Martin's Day" by Pieter Bruegel and the central panel of The Haywain by Hieronymus Bosch.
A 10-minute, 4K single-channel video will be provided to the collector.
