I recently read a number of books about quantum physics, quantum mechanics, quantum gravity and string theory. Within these topics the math is very abstract but at its core comes from simple imagined scenarios such as, “What if it’s like this…?” Then the math unfolds.
Of the many mind-twisting topics in these fields of research, the one that captured my imagination the strongest is the notion of multiple parallel universes. More than just a fanciful notion, the math suggests that not only might other universes exist, but they in fact must exist.
This piece, Transient Apologia, is one painting from my Multiverse series. In this series, I explore ways to show what it looks like existing in multiple places at the same time- What happens if we would encounter our alternate selves.
The original physical painting is done with pigmented volcanic rock. A literal Earth element that, through the minting process, is transmuted into Aether.
