This creation goes back to a sculpture I made called David. To me it represents a few things. From the history of art, painting and sculpting cloth has been a longstanding tradition. This is something that speaks of to me which I like to explore. The contrast between the liquidity of the material, and the solid qualities of bronze. Also as an artist knowing that at any time I could take any one of these frames and turn it into a sculpture, making the temporal fixed in time. This is something I've done in a few series.
In the metaphorical sense the motion of the material on the head reminds me of streams of consciousness. They occupy the mind for a time and then move onto other thoughts. Sometimes the biggest challenge of an artist is to capture these thoughts before they disappear. I often find one thought leads to a multitude of new ones, and one idea leads to many more.
The last part of this for me is humor. I love the idea of wrappers flying in the wind and getting stuck on things. Especially a piece of classical sculpture.
