Preface Throughout the centuries, man has always gone to battle. For the conquest of territory. For religion. For rights. For emancipation. And so on.
Nowadays, some of these battles, such as those of opinion, are fought online. And they are fought with clicks.
These battles take place while sitting in chairs, with bodies as still as statues, but, in contrast, with fingers darting over a keyboard. And a shower of clicks begins.
The Timeline Chronicles. A drama in three acts.
Incipit The Timeline, of which the chronicles are narrated, is a metaphysical space. It lies between physical reality and the digital metaverse. Battles of thought are fought in the Timeline.
Act 1: The Breach A system error. A bug. Perhaps more than one. The architecture collapses. A breach opens in the Timeline.
The opposing factions literally begin to pour out of the breach, finding themselves on the same plane. They are ready to fight.
Act 2: The Battle of Windows Castle As time passes on the Timeline, the battle begins to rage and the theatre of war shifts to Windows Castle.
The clash is now complete, and from afar you can hear the sound of a thunderous rain of buttons, with its distinctive "click, click, click" sound.
Act 3: The Final Duel While people mourn the destruction and losses suffered, the battle draws to a close with the final duel.
At a certain point, someone begins to notice that something in the "system" is wrong. There's an error, and a window appears inviting you to make a decision.
You ignore the bugs, press Cancel, and move on. The result can only be total annihilation and with it, the end. There are no winners or losers.
You choose OK and let everything go into the Timeline bubble. The system reboots in the hope that everything will work again. Here, too, there are no winners or losers.
Suddenly, you discover that on the Timeline, sooner or later, everything starts again. It's cyclical. And the breach opens...
Freely inspired by The Matrix, The Dark Tower, The Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, the opinion battles that appear on my XTwitter timeline, and much more.
