The Ticket

The Ticket derived from mother that passed a few years ago. I acquired a physical ticket when I was in the 7th grade that came with a candy selling fundraiser. If your ticket was called over the school intercom on the last day of the fundraiser you would win a few different prizes. I looked at my ticket so much out of excitement that I had it memorized. Come the last day of the fundraiser my ticket # ended up being called! I rushed up to the front office to collect my prizes and to my surprise i checked my pocket and my ticket was missing. I begged and pleaded with the staff to allow me to still collect the prizes still but they told me because I lost my ticket they could not. Later crying to my mother she told me to treat a ticket like my life. If i hold on to it and protect it then one day it can take me somewhere. Hold on to your ticket with everything you've got. It's all you've got and you only get 1!
