The Rising Sun

"The Rising Sun" is a special image. Captured at sunrise, the East African Coast was painted so beautifully by rays of the sun, casting a candle reflection on the still sea. The silhouette cast by the boat set the mood and feel. A view that I had chased throughout a one week stay at the shores of Mombasa, Kenya. I could finally end my trip!

I sent my dad the photo before I got on the plane and when I landed, I got a message of how my family members had added it as their wallpaper. An inspiring moment for me.

I had been challenged to shoot anything other than portraits by my mom and dad. But I love portraits so much that I turned this landscape into one.

I had seen this challenge as a frown upon my portrait work when I started but I only realized later how my parents wanted to bring out the best in my work.
