Queen Elizabeth II on her arrival at the Nairobi airport in 1972, 9 years after Kenya declared independence. On this trip the Queen knighted Jomo Kenyatta, the 82-year old president of Kenya before returning home to a cold, windy Heathrow airport on March 26, 1972 after a 7 week trip abroad.
