The Colonialists

Hey Normies in NFTs,

You didn’t call the monkey pictures art. We know. But you still barged in with your flip-flops, spreadsheets, and “floor prices” into what could’ve been a genuine artistic revolution—and smothered it in its crib - with the help of the decades past napkin party world that failed us too.

The arts were a refuge. A temple for the weirdos. The mystics. The ones who fell in love with people you’d find repellent, chased aliens, skipped the mortgage to follow the muse. The ones who gave up careers, families, and any shot at social standing just to keep a candle lit in the dark.

Pollock pissed in a fireplace at a patron’s party. Basquiat screamed and threw a wine bottle at a couple for wanting to match his painting to their drapes. Social commentary work? No but our drapes. Those weren’t tantrums. They were trauma responses—after a lifetime of choking on your polite society. We studied your world. Lived under it. Learned your language. You never bothered with ours, but your money is meant to smoothe it all out. Keep hearing me out, with this rant you are getting off cancel culture easy.

You think weird is a vibe. For us, it was exile from your choke hazard. You played safe while we cracked open the void. You followed rules. We set them on fire to pursue the light.

And just when it looked like we might have a new playground—NFTs, crypto, digital rebellion—you brought your Wall Street cosplay and farted all over the campfire. Hey maybe you too, were frustrated at the idea of not being able to own a house.

The great digital flip. No reverence. No curiosity. Just vibes and exit liquidity. Now we’re stuck bunking with your cartoon scam economy, while the movement that could’ve revived the soul of art lies facedown for repeat of the carnival of garbage.

You minted a revolution and listed it on OpenDrainSea. You traded the new maybe opportunity for the sacred for staking. And we—the ones who paid in blood, time, and madness—were told to be grateful for the exposure but what utility does it have?

So yeah. You won the game. Congrats. Now kindly—choke on your clown JPEG. And pass the fork. We’re carving our way out from the coming 2.0
