The Chips

The Chips, 2022, 1/1

This work was created entirely by hand in After Effects in 2022, a year that marked the first seismic shift in public awareness of artificial intelligence.. While the world was just beginning to experiment with prompts and early generative outputs, this animation turned its attention to the real foundation of the revolution: the chips and compute power driving it all..

The animation becomes both a meditation and a monument. It strips away the hype of interfaces and style filters to focus on the hum of circuitry, the pulse of GPUs, and the silent energy of transistors that shaped the trajectory of culture. In 2022, computation itself was the raw material of imagination, a new kind of ore being mined and forged into intelligence.

The rarity of this piece is not just its early timestamp, but its method. Every frame was crafted manually, without relying on AI tools, making it an artifact of human authorship that reflects on the invisible architectures of machine thought. It is a snapshot from the threshold, when creativity and computation first began to fuse at scale, and a reminder that behind every model lies a lattice of silicon, heat, and electricity.

To collect The Chips is to hold a fragment of that historic moment, a bridge between human craft and the emerging architectures of the digital age.
