in the arctic, everything happening in the sky has a peculliar way of happening very fast, or very slow. the blue hour is a term photographers use for the period when the sun is below the horizon and everything takes on a blue hue. in winter in the arctic, it can last for hours as the sun lingers ever so close to coming up or going down. i painted this scene from tromsoe with reference from my photography from when i was staying there. a5 300gsm fabriano watercolour paper
