System Failure: Sitting I Submittal for the Art Commission Glitch Series from ACTZ.
The piece documents the act of sitting over time, but transforms this moment into an exploration of how digital tools shape, mediate, and ultimately corrupt our creative processes.
This work represents an evolution of my practice, merging conceptual threads from everyday human experience with the unstable realities of technological creation, one-line algorithmic drawing and multilayered, textured compositions that mirror my oil painting process.

Conceptual Framework Building on my investigations from the Anatomies | Figures in Space collection and One-Line Drawing Studies collection, this work embeds a wireframe figure within a deteriorating digital creation environment. The piece captures the transformative moment when these tools become subject to the same instabilities they're meant to control—embodying technology's capacity to surprise us through breakdown and error.
Technical The work employs authentic glitch aesthetics through progressive system failure: halftone pattern degradation, border corruption, and interface breakdown that frames the composition. The piece makes technological instability integral to both content and presentation—the artwork itself appears to experience system failure while documenting a creative process.
Collection Context Part of an ongoing investigation into how human figures exist within technological and spatial frameworks, this piece extends portraiture into the realm of process documentation and system critique. It represents the intersection of traditional artistic concerns (figure, space, time) with contemporary realities of digital creation and distribution.
Meta-Commentary This work transforms documentation of digital creation into art object itself. The visible digital interface becomes both tool and subject, creating recursive commentary on how platform-mediated creativity operates in an era of technological vulnerability. The corrupted borders suggest that even the act of viewing digital art exists within systems prone to magical moments of misbehavior.
Closing System Failure: Sitting I attempts to capture a pivotal moment in digital art where the tools of creation become inseparable from the content they generate.
The work embodies the brief's call for celebrating moments when technology goes wrong, transforming system instabilities from frustrating interruptions into sources of aesthetic and conceptual discovery.
Created for the ACTZ Glitch Art Commission, this work demonstrates how contemporary digital practice can embrace technological failure as a generative creative force rather than an obstacle to overcome.
