Staring into the abyss

This is the first photo of a limited series (of five) on Uzbekistan. I took this picture in the city of Xiva/Khiva, a historical place in the vast desert, right on the border with Turkmenistan. You can see the Kalta Minor minaret in the background, one of the many highlights of the city.
