lost angels. i cannot say the same for LA as i do for NYC in terms of what it has done for my life, however there have been periods where a left coast stint has certainly provided. it's a place i could never live but for groupings of weeks it turned into quite the dot connector in this web of life. maybe it's because you feel like you're in your own personal episode of entourage every time you land at LAX, bouncing around town with your friends who have all crafted perfect lives there, hanging in the studio until all hours of the morning, chowing in-n-out double doubles, etc. out of all the years spent in so-cal i had never stayed in west hollywood more than one night until recently. i woke up one morning, stepped out on to the balcony, took in the view from city to sea, and this is what came of it. a friend once asked me, "do you just come to california to photograph palm trees?" i often like to think the answer is still yes in some form 🏝️
