Soliloquy

As I continue to wonder what the future holds for me, I find myself speaking more to myself. Planning, strategizing, and hoping. Mixed with anxiety and worry. I wonder who else has such thoughts. Who else is wondering if they will ever make it in this life? I paint my most recent feelings in this piece, hoping others will be able to relate and maybe draw strength from the realization that they are not alone. 'Soliloquy' is the story of a black man who is deep in thoughts about his life.

This piece began as a photograph of my street. Then photographs of Adire which is symbolic and crucial to representing my culture in my artworks. Next, I paint the stars and the male figure in my usual workflow, thereby creating a balance between the painted foreground and the photographed background.
