Adora was on a mission to find a new home for her family. It was going to take years for her to travel across space, but she knew it was worth the risk. They had to escape Earth before it turned into a radioactive wasteland.
She scanned nearby stars and solar systems for planets with potential for human life. After years of searching, she found one! It was 36 light-years away from Earth, so it would take her 7 minutes to get there in hyperspace—but that was okay! That's what she’d been waiting for, after all: a new beginning, far away from all of this pain and suffering on Earth. Adora looked out of the window at her new home: a barren landscape of rocks and sand, with no sign of life anywhere. She sighed; this planet was not what she had hoped for. She had scanned nearby solar systems in search of an exoplanet that was suitable for human life, but this one seemed to be uninhabitable by any living being.
She turned off the ship's engines and opened the hatch, which slowly lowered itself onto the ground with a dull thud. The air was thick and humid; it wouldn't be easy to breathe here without some kind of filter system in place. The first step is to see if there is any breathable oxygen or water nearby. This place appears to be dark and lonely, with no trees or animals in sight, but it is far better compared to the radioactive environment on Earth.
