A long, long sleep, a famous sleep That makes no show for dawn By stretch of limb or stir of lid, — An independent one.
Was ever idleness like this? Within a hut of stone To bask the centuries away Nor once look up for noon?
~Emily Dickinson
I am sure she meant this for something else but whenever I read this poem, it reminds me of Sleeping Beauty. However , among all the fairy tales I find this one disconcerting and creepy - any woman who wakes up being kissed by an unknown man would either scream the house down and or reach for the nearest weapon like thing !! But what I like about the story is that she gets to sleep - long and undisturbed :)
