Tsutanuma Swamp nests in a dense beech forest at the foot of South Hakkoda Mountains in Aomori, Japan. It was a foggy windless morning that I visited the place. The water was a gleaming mirror, and the chirps of chickadees echoed profoundly. Overwhelmingly beautiful and miraculously peaceful. I remained before the swap for nearly an hour, but the sight and the sound didn’t change even slightly during the whole time.
