/With the blood of an innocent another innocent will be cured/
Antonio Mamerto Gil Nuñez was a gaucho who had an excellent handling of the facón. His hypnotic gaze was fearsome for the enemies and fulminant for the women. He deserted the army for refusing to participate in a civil war between brothers, and people began to know him as a vigilante who avenged the humiliated and who healed the sick. After being captured, none of the soldiers dared to execute him. He was finally beheaded by Colonel Velázquez, and his murderer became his first devotee.
I chose to represent it with the Japanese print aesthetic (Ukiyo e), because I admire the way this culture preserves its popular beliefs.
