Searching For Persephone

Searching For Persephone is meant as a preface and introduction to the goddess Demeter, who will be the subject of the third Tower in the single edition series of "Fabled Towers."

Demeter was said to be the "goddess of agriculture." Her daughter Persephone was abducted by Hades and taken to the underworld. Searching endlessly, she roamed the earth for days, driven mad by her beloved daughter’s disappearance. Once found, a pact was formed whereby Persephone would return to the underworld for a portion of the year.

During the time that Persephone spends away from her mother in the underworld, Demeter's happiness wanes. Plants wither and die. This is the time of year we've come to know as Autumn and Winter. When Persephone is reunited with her mother, this signals a renewal of hope. The earth becomes fertile and fruitful, representing Spring and Summer.

Here's to a happy, healthy, and fruitful Spring of 2021.

All the best, Pixelhead
