Sea Power

The ancient sacred symbol of Kanatitza rising up from the depths of the sea in the clear and bright day.

I created this painting after I visited some sacred megalithic sites near the Black Sea in my home country of Bulgaria in the summer of 20'. I began creating it a few months earlier, but was only able to finish it after coming back from my travels.

There is evidence that variations of this sacred symbol been used for thousands of years in these lands and beyond - on pottery, embodied cloth and hand-weaved carpets.
