Created on a Quantel Paintbox Unique 1/1 NFT
Work Description Screen Captures explores the architecture of perception in a hyper-surveilled age. Fragmented frames mimic the logic of control-interfaces that record, dissect, and archive behavior, turning the world into a system of signals. But surveillance here is not only external; it extends inward, mapping our thoughts, memories, and emotions. Against this matrix of digital watchfulness, the right side unfolds as a quiet resistance-human, tactile, and unresolved. It speaks to the persistence of feeling in a world obsessed with measurement. The art was first created on the Quantel Paintbox and later composited on the Quantel Printbox, using paint over photos and free drawing with the Paintbox's digital brushes and effects.
Artist Statement Micha began working with the groundbreaking Quantel Paintbox around 1986-a moment he describes as the most liberating artistic experience of his career. The Paintbox allowed him to create real-time mixed media compositions with a fluidity that felt as natural as using traditional brushes. Its tactile control over color, texture, and layering collapsed the boundaries between digital and analog, offering an immediacy that made it love at first sight.
