Blink of an eye, Another year, Still life, Shutter issue severe.
I think of this piece as a painting. Using eyelashes as bristles and roses as paint, a cacophony occurs. The canvas is a sclera, which fills with innocence. So much can happen in a blink of an eye, yet so much can also be forgotten. History repeats, and so does this piece.
I shot the eye and roses in 2018. The “painting" occurs with a technique of optical flow. I used houdini to calculate the velocities of the eye movements. I then took those velocities and used them to drive a particle simulation. Finally, I meshed the 90 million particles.
