Roaring Lions!

Misty mornings add more mystery and magic to the frames. These are Lipstick & Blackie, two well-known lions of Masai Mara. We started the day by listening to the sound of lions from the distance. We could feel the stress of something beyond a morning roaring routine in the sound pattern. As we were getting closer, we spotted Lipstick & Blackie running after something. That’s when we noticed two young male lions roaring in the distance and approaching in our direction. We were expecting a fight. But after around half an hour of roaring and chasing, the young males backed out. And these two guys stood there and roared at the top of their voices for a long time. A loud and clear statement! The valley was still covered in golden mist. The two kings were declaring their territory, their warm breath into the cold mist, backlit, valley, layers of mountain and golden sky, every element helped in creating a magical frame of the African horizon.
