Reward Cycle C1AA

The scratchy patterns and lines of code in Yarli Allison’s Reward Cycle C1AA, (2021) were laboriously constructed by hand to mimic a digital interface. The labour-intensive process allowed her to play with alternative artistic decisions, and question the relationship between art-making and digital AI tools. Reward Cycle C1AA is part of a larger work that challenges who has power over new technologies. Entitled Datafication Act 1 : May Ian Valley 0101 《數據化 事件一 : 美人谷0101》, the film imagines daily influences of AI emergence and gamification on one's behaviour - taking the most intimate sexual encounters as departure.
