This comic is about an emotional journey to reunite with the "self" that one thinks or wishes to be the true one. It is very personal and yet I think many people have experienced it. I mixed it with a nostalgic Iranian pop culture reference . She begins her journey with an old Persian song "Khali" by Ebi. I put a rough translation of the lyrics below for those non-Farsi speakers who wants to read :
I , drained from passion and rage , emptied from self or estrangement , Confused I wander between being and non-existence. (Page 8)
Love, my last companion , left me like you did. All that's left is my empty hands and loneliness.
Alas! I have become lost in the darkness of flesh (page 9) Alas! You are still screaming in my mirror like the perfect picture of love.(page 11 and 12)
Ah, our tears and joys are nothing . Our loss or success are nothing Only your embrace is left And everything else is nothing
You , the one as lonely as I am , take my hands before life passes me by . (Page 22) You are everything , the earth and sky are nothing. (Page 24)
I see in you all that is and is not Come fill me up , you cold, hopeless sun I die without you, like the heart of the light You were light all along , who took you away from me? (Page 25)
