Dance, like learning, requires embodiment. Machines must invent bodies not only to get down but also to advance. In the simulated worlds of XR, AI creations may be endowed with bodies that appear so real that we will not know they are machines. But what if they abandon these humanoid aspirations and instead generate imaginative bodies of their own? What will they learn as they dance? What will they begin to experience?
