I was very taken with the beautiful refraction taking place in this swimming pool next to where I was sitting for breakfast. I wanted to record a little frame of these patterns so I wouldn't forget them. As I recorded, I became more and more aware of the sounds around me. Holding the phone as motionless as possible, the longer I recorded, the more the noise became an anti-soundtrack: an invasive barrage at odds with the beautiful and serene images I was seeing. By not including the sources of these sounds in the frame, you may experience the same invasiveness as I did. I thought about replacing the sound with something more ambient, but this would be a violent act to the source. You may choose to listen to the sound, or not, but it is there regardless, even if you try to filter it out.
