(This piece is dedicated to all NFT artists that can relate in one way or another)
This is the first NFT that exposes the rawness and vulnerable side of me as an artist in three artworks as 1 NFT, trying to break away through expression, not just from WEB2 but from depression and addiction, a reason why I, along with many others who can't simply "Show up" or help feel deterred by "influencers" and "Whales" that want to keep us in a WEB2 box.
Frame 1: Chained to WEB2:
Feelings of the tight shackles of having to work in a WEB2 job just to scrape enough Shekels from the slave masters to provide for the family.
Plus The feeling of not being able to break free from WEB2 social media in fear of judgement for "Not showing up" yet choosing to ignore your own growing collection of support for fellow WEB3 artists.
I wanted this piece to feel loose and non-conformative to the "high standards" placed on us as NFT artists. Just putting my pen to the tablet and doing a childlike drawing of a laptop felt liberating, conveying the message of being a slave to WEB2 but still trying to break away.
Frame 2: Even Grifter Machines Cry:
Depression has taken a hold of my life many times and continues to do so, art is an escape for me, so when I don't get the time to work on my art due to the day job, it can be taxing and I end up in a spiral and even to the point I breakdown alone and in silence while still trying to be the grifter of the family.
Frame 3: PainKiller:
I have been addicted to painkillers for over 10 years now, they keep me numb from the pain of my depression and I feel they also help with my creativity by being focused, even though I know the damage that they could be doing physically.
This piece shows the continuation of them being taken again and again in a constant loop. But I hope by sharing this secret, it will help me break free from the addiction in time.
The Frame:
The angry skulls represent my innermost self, angry that I can't seem to break free...
