Created on a Quantel Paintbox at NFT Paris, Paris, France Unique 1/1 NFT
Work Description While experiencing Paris for the first time, I went on a psychedelic journey. Captivated by beauty and the unknown, I conjured this mistress of lost technology. Inspired by the art surrounding me, I created this piece. This was my first time using the Paintbox. I felt a familiarity with the tools at hand. Waving the wand like a paintbrush, like a tattoo machine, I treated the digital pad like a canvas-like new skin.
Artist Statement Jaime Pagan's creative process, honed over two decades as a Puerto Rican tattoo artist, bridges the tactile intensity of inking skin with the boundless possibilities of digital innovation. The thrill of needles piercing skin mirrors the rush of wielding digital tools, like the paintbox, to carve new grooves on virtual canvas. Each stroke channels the legacy of artists before him, blending hyper-realistic precision with raw storytelling. For The Digital Art Mile Basel 2025, Pagan embraced the paintbox machine-merging traditional realism with digital experimentation-to craft a vivid portrait that resonates emotionally. This fusion of mediums, rooted in his Newburgh, NY grit, allows him to push boundaries, transforming surfaces into narratives that honor the past while forging a bold, contemporary path.
